Eminem review
Hurting people's feelings is
one of my favorite pastimes.
I'm sure psychologists can
find a million reasons for my
mean-spiritedness, but I just
attest it to being an asshole,
plain and simple. But there
are times, like when I hold a
small baby in my arms or feel the soft skin of a
woman's breast, that I want to change. I want to be a
nice guy. I want to make people feel good about
themselves, not ashamed of their shortcomings that I
so often ridicule. But I get paid to make fun of people,
and I'm not about to quit my job and go volunteer at a
soup kitchen. Although I do like soup. My grandmother
makes this soup with potatoes and collared greens and
Portuguese sausage that is just amazing. It's kind of heavy like a meal in itself, but I can eat a gallon of it even on the hottest summer days. I love my grandmother dearly. But there's something I've been wanting to say for a long time: I like Eminem. There was a time a few years ago when his "Hi, my name is..." song was out, and I just hated him. I was so anti, you'd think he'd raped my girlfriend. It all stemmed back to my blacker days when I cared more about underground hip-hop, when I refused to listen to any record that pressed more than nine copies. Back then I wrote an article bagging Eminem and calling him out on some lyrics he bit. I even hand delivered the article to his tour bus and waited for him to come out so we could get into it. But now I'm older, and so is Eminem, and he's gotten much better. Much funnier and a lot less poppy, and, as much as it hurts to eat my own words, I have to admit I heart Eminem.
