Broken Poems
[ author: Mark Gonzales ]
Mark Gonzales has given so much to the skateboard community,
from his smooth inventive style of street skating to his zany Basquiat-inspired thumbnail sketches to his
introspective short stories and poems, that it seems almost impossible not to thank him. This German
import collects a number of stories that have appeared in Thrasher as well as a shitload of his doodles. His tales are for the most part good. (he only falters when he writes about skateboarding; who wants to read about skateboarding?) and leave you with a warm, weird feeling that has you caught somewhere between wanting to laugh or go take a long, pensive crap in a public restroom. If you want to say thank you to Mark for all he's done, buy this book and his pro model from Real, 'cause when he's dead, you'll be able to say you have a first edition Gonzales and the press will be able to say he didn't die broke. (Note to Mark: I'd take a drawing of a mermaid holding a bottle of booze and a cigarette over the thumbnails any day.)

I bought the first edition of this book in Germany for 7 dollars. I gave it to a girlfriend and she fuckin lost it or gave it to one of her lovers or used it as toilet paper. The point is im trying to buy this book for the last 2 years but the price went through the roof and im not willing to pay 100 bucks for this shit. So I just wanted to say thank you Tini for stealing my book, bitch.
